What is heat exchanger?
Heat exchanger, also known as heat transfer equipment, is a kind of equipment that can exchange heat under certain structure and certain working conditions. According to the structure, purpose of use and the shape of the heat transfer surface, the heat exchanger has a variety of classifications, such as shell and tube, plate, spiral and so on. In condensing boilers, the heat exchanger is mainly used to transfer the heat generated by combustion to water, so that it is heated and produces steam or hot water to meet the demand for heating or hot water supply.
What is the working principle of the heat exchanger?
Heat generation: first, the fuel in the boiler (e.g. natural gas, fuel oil, etc.) is burned to produce high-temperature flue gases, which carry a large amount of heat energy.
Heat transfer: high-temperature flue gas then enters the heat exchanger, and in the heat exchanger flow of water or other media for heat exchange. In this process, the heat from the high-temperature flue gases is transferred to the water via the heat transfer surfaces of the heat exchanger, causing the temperature of the water to rise gradually.
Condensation process: In particular, in condensing boilers, the heat exchanger also has a condensation function. When the flue gas temperature drops below the dew point, the water vapour in the flue gas condenses into liquid water and releases a large amount of latent heat. This latent heat will also be effectively absorbed by the heat exchanger and transferred to the water, thus further improving the thermal efficiency.
Heat output: After heat exchange, the water temperature rises and reaches a set value, which is then transported to the heating system or hot water supply system for use. At the same time, flue gases with reduced temperature are discharged from the boiler through the flue.
